Want to hear a crazy story about how I almost got arrested? Cool, because I am going to type it all out. Here it goes:
So my night starts with strapping my gear up and heading to Vidor where our show was. Well the church we play at is the most conservative of the conservative. Turns out we are the first “worship band” to ever grace their stage. Our job is to lead worship for the congregation and then provide music for the offertory. Well we ROCKED it! They loved us. One lady asked if I would marry her daughter..err weird. Anyway back to the real story. So their music minister decides that we are getting paid with gift-cards. Well we say whatever and gladly take what he hands us. So as we leave we are all thrilled to find Chili’s giftcards for all 4 of us. So as all good teenage boys would do, we go to Chili’s right then.
We get to Chili’s and we all max these things out. Everyone got an appetizer, an entree, and a desert. It was marvelous. Next phase: the waitress walks over and asks us how we are paying. We all respond: “We are all seperate, we have our own individual gift cards.” She responds, “Ok, no problem.” She comes back three minutes later and says “Sorry, these aren’t activated, let me go call corporate and get all this sorted out.” I’m sitting there thinking this will take ten minutes tops. She comes back to our table 45 minutes later with the police. The cops look me square in the eyes and say “All these cards are stolen, walk this way please.” At this point I’m like mumbling: “Uh,,,,,,,,,,,uh..” The (really nice) police officers take us all outside and we explain that we just played a gig at a church and we got paid with these. Turns out the dude that bought them just walked out with them..GREAT!! We call him, he clears it up, and he swears he’ll pay for them the next day.
Next phase: We’re sitting they’re awkwardly with no gift-cards, no money, and no way to actually pay for our stuff. Well the manager walks over and says: “Guys I’m sorry about all this your meal is on me. Here is a free dinner for two ticket that you can use anytime.” We all gaze at him like he just handed us the keys to a new car.
Ending: So it all got sorted out, but I almost (almost, almost, almost) went to jail. :]]]
God’s glory always shines.
P.s>Got another 25 dollars from that church.
Well i got up today and worked from 6 til 330. Then went home and got ready for hot hearts tonight. Fee and his band did an awesome job of leading worship for us. Wes Hamilton spoke and he did really well also. When he gave the invitation so many people came forward, it was such an amazing and refreshing site to see. It is good to know God is still working in this area in the lives of so many people my age..well tomorrow comes quickly. Goodnight
I never use this thing because..well no one reads it. I am not interesting and I don’t have any adventures to tell you about. In this blog I have two things to complain about. Number one: The Cowboys choked Sunday and are out of the playoffs. The secondary sucks,,find new people Jerry Jones. Secondly: we’ve been trying to get Wickham to come for our Disciple Now weekend but he is doing a camp in California already, just my luck. Well on a positive note: Fee, Hawk Nelson, and the Afters are coming this weekend for Hot Hearts. I am going to be working backstage helping out..it should be fun. Adios
I’m pretty pissed off. CBS isn’t showing the Pats vs the Colts down here. I hate the NFL. I get to watch the TEXANS!!!! YES!!! not.
I have to go to work today. I work at a golf course, I like work. My job consists of talking to old guys, watching the latest headlines on the Weather Channel, and eating. I am suprised I still get paid for what I do because it is so much fun. Not to mention I basically play free golf everywhere I want. I always wonder about people my age who actually have to work for a living. I cannot fathom what that is because I am so blessed to have a job that doesn’t require much work, if any at all. I worry sometimes that I will never be able to hold a real job because I have been so spoiled with this one for so long. Maybe God will intervene and just let me be a musician or a pro golfer so I will never have to sit at a desk. I am too ADD to sit at a desk. I can barely sit through my classes or even church for that matter. I like being able to do what I want when I want at work. I will probably never be able to do anything different..
Todays thought:
Revelation 2:16:
16‘Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.
Yea, so i ended up going to the Crowder/Wickham concert last night. (See above: Pictures) Crowder was ok. His band is really weird, I’m not into that kind of stuff. They play guitar hero guitars and fake keyboards..not the coolest thing ever, but whatever works I guess. BUT, Wickham tore the house down. I absolutely love his music, God has really blessed his ministry. He could have replaced Crowder as headliner and I wouldn’t have cared. On the other hand, I did get to meet Wickham last night. That was cool. I LOVE the guy, don’t get me wrong but sometimes I think people forget why he really does what he does. Sometimes we get so caught up in the awe of an artist that we forget who we are really supposed to be worshiping. I am ashamed to say I do it, but I want to fix it. Maybe it’s time we stop worshiping the guy singing the music and start worshiping the guy who we should be singing the music to. God is amazing. He never ceases to amaze my small and inferior mind. I’ll just leave you with this:
John 5:19:
19Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
